ADAM DICKSON
Adam Dickson is a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Durham University and a Postgraduate Fellow of the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.
His research explores antisemitism in English football, with a particular focus on how collective memory, and moral injury shape the experiences of Jewish supporters. Drawing on trauma informed perspectives, his doctoral research examines how antisemitism is experienced, negotiated, and understood within contemporary sporting environments.
Adam holds an MA in Trauma-Informed Education Practice from Teesside University, and completed his teacher training through St Mary’s College, Durham University, gaining both Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Membership to the Chartered College of Teaching (MCCT).
Adam has contributed to a range of public-facing and policy-focused projects concerning contemporary antisemitism. In 2026, he co-authored, with Professor David Hirsh, the independent review into the prohibition of Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters at an Aston Villa UEFA Europa League fixture, which was launched at the House of Lords and commissioned by the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism and HM Independent Adviser on Antisemitism, Lord John Mann. The review examined questions of proportionality, equality, and public policy in responses to antisemitism within football contexts.
Adam’s work has been published in educational and interdisciplinary contexts, including research on trauma informed approaches to history education and genocide memorialisation. He is also an academic adviser to initiatives addressing antisemitism in sport and regularly delivers training, public engagement activities, and invited presentations on contemporary antisemitism, education, and football culture.
