Andre Oboler

Dr Andre Oboler is CEO of the Online Hate Prevention Institute and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Law School at La Trobe University. He has worked at the leading edge of international efforts to combat online hate and extremism for over 20 years.

He is responsible for coining the term “Antisemitism 2.0” in 2008 and expanding the field of antisemitism studies into the social media world.

Dr Oboler served as a co-chair of the Global Forum to Combat Antisemitism and co-led its working group on antisemitism on the Internet and in the Media from 2008 to 2017.

Since 2015, he has served as an expert member of the Australian Government’s delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance where he serves on the Committee on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial.

He was an adviser to the Swedish Government for the Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism.

He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and serves as the Chair of the IEEE’s Global Policy Caucus.
