Cary Nelson, Research Fellow

Cary Nelson is the author or editor of 36 books, including six about antisemitism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They include Israel Denial: Anti-Zionism, Anti-Semitism, & The Faculty Campaign Against the Jewish State (2019) and Hate Speech and Academic Freedom: The Antisemitic Assault on Basic Principles (2024).  He has also published 400 essays. He is Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts & Sciences Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an affiliated faculty member at the University of Haifa. He holds an honorary doctorate from Ben Gurion University of the Negev. He was national president of the American Association of University Professors from 2006-2012 and presently serves as chair of the Alliance for Academic Freedom.
