Daniel Chernilo, Research Fellow

Daniel Chernilo is a Professor of Sociology at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Santiago, Chile and a Visiting Professor of Social and Political Thought at Loughborough. He was written widely on the history of social thought, humanism, nationalism and cosmopolitanism and is currently working on antisemitism and secularisation. 

His most recent articles are on the heterodox social theory of Robert Fine (British Journal of Sociology 71: 2, 2020) and the normative challenges of contemporary social theory (European Journal of Social Theory, forthcoming).

His books include: Debating Humanity. Towards a Philosophical Sociology (CUP, 2017), The Natural Law Foundations of Modern Social Theory (CUP, 2013) and A Social Theory of the Nation-State (Routledge, 2007).
