Jonas Hessenauer
Hessenauer is a research associate at the Tikvah Institute in Berlin, where he is currently working on a project examining Israel-related antisemitism in German print and online media.
His research pays particular attention to subtle and coded expressions of antisemitic narratives, which often appear under the guise of legitimate criticism or are framed as a defense of freedom of expression. Beginning in the winter semester of 2025, he will also be teaching sociology at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR).
He holds an M.A. in Social Theory from the University of Jena and a B.A. in Social Science and Legal Studies from the University of Erfurt. In 2021, he studied as an exchange student at the University of Haifa.
His broader research interests include antisemitism, right-wing extremism, esotericism, conspiracy myths, social psychology, social theory, and the Frankfurt School.
