Sayan Lodh

Sayan Lodh is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Presidency University, Kolkata, India. His doctoral thesis explores Judaizing movements in India, specifically focusing on the emergence of Jewish-identifying communities among Christian, socio-economically marginalized populations.

His primary research interests include Indo-Judaic Studies (encompassing broader Jewish Studies), antisemitism, and mass violence, with a particular focus on South Asia.


He was a Scholar-in-Residence at the ISGAP-Oxford Summer Institute for the Development of Curriculum in Critical Contemporary Antisemitism Studies (2024) and is a recipient of the US-based Association for Jewish Studies’ (AJS) Scholar of Color Fellowship (2024-2025).

Recently he has also been elected a Postgraduate Student Member of the UK-based Royal Historical Society (RHS).

His work includes peer-reviewed publications and articles in outlets such as the English edition of Haaretz (Israel’s oldest newspaper), Tablet Magazine, and Flashpoint.
