Sheree Trotter
Sheree has a first degree and a PhD in History from the University of Auckland.
Sheree is an historian and archival manager for the Jewish Lives NZ, Jewish Museum of NZ Charitable Trust, of which she has served as a Trustee.
She co-founded the Shadows of Shoah Trust, renamed Holocaust and Antisemitism Foundation, Aotearoa New Zealand (HAFANZ) in 2019. HAFANZ is an educational work based on photographs and interviews with Holocaust survivors. It produces exhibitions, commentary and resources. HAFANZ released an educational app in 2020. HAFANZ is a registered charity with donee status and is controlled by a board of academics and community leaders. She is the founder of the Indigenous Coalition for Israel, along with former Cabinet Minister of the NZ Government, Hon Alfred Ngaro. Its mission is to raise a collective indigenous voice to increase understanding of Israel, locally and internationally, through education and cultural engagement. Sheree spearheaded and convened the inaugural IEJ Academic Symposium in October 2024, titled, ‘Indigenous Perspectives – The View from Jerusalem: Land, People, Story’.
