Social Media Lead

Purpose of role

LCSCA is first of all an academic centre that challenges antisemitism in universities and in writing, research and theory. We are a research hub that brings together networks of academics working to understand the antisemitism we see around us today, and to offer alternatives to antisemitic understandings of the world, including at the highest scholarly levels. The work of LCSCA is more crucial than ever in challenging the antisemitic narrative in academia. We are committed to communicating our work in a way that reaches a wider audience. We are seeking volunteers to assist in managing and expanding our online presence by creating and scheduling content, as well as monitoring performance across various platforms.

Tasks

This role focuses on promoting, developing, and maintaining our online presence to maximise our impact and effectively share our work. Volunteers are encouraged to focus on the platform where they have the most experience and expertise. We are currently active on the following platforms:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Instagram
  • YouTube

Our goal is to develop and expand our online presence, increasing both our followers and interactions. We are also seeking a volunteer to establish and grow a TikTok profile, as we do not currently have one.
The tasks involved in this role include:

  • Collaborating with our team to create a social media strategy
  • Keeping our channels updated
  • Creating engaging content for social media posts
  • Planning and managing the distribution of posts
  • Tracking and analysing the performance of our posts
  • Working closely with team members to ensure consistent messaging, tone, and branding across all content and platforms

Support offered

Any relevant training, such as instruction on how our systems work and how to access our resources and content.

We will support and collaborate with our volunteers, providing materials and content for posts.

We will pay reasonable expenses.

Why you should apply

There is a hostile environment in our universities to Jews, to scholars and students of antisemitism, and to anyone challenging antisemitic scholarship.

Social media is a key area where you can help us challenge the prevailing narrative by sharing research, articles and events with a wider audience. We are looking for individuals with the following skills and experience:

  • Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills are essential.
  • Social Media Knowledge: A good understanding of how different social media platforms operate.
  • Writing and editing content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter).
  • Analytics: Familiarity with social media analytics tools is a plus.

This is a great opportunity for students or recent graduates in media, marketing, graphic design, or journalism to gain hands-on experience.

Where and when

This is a remote volunteer role, and you will need to have your own IT setup in place. It is a flexible position that can accommodate your commitments and availability. Ideally, we are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least six months.

We ask that you engage with one or more social media platforms, dedicating approximately 3-5 hours per week and aiming to post at least three times a week. Posts can be scheduled in advance.
